Hey there Apollo

So you know that song Hey There Delilah? Well I re-wrote it for an AP English project on Greek mythology...enjoy!

Hey there Apollo
What’s it like on Mt. Olympus
I heard you play the lyre for the gods
and make them all so joyous
Yes you do.
No one can play quite as well as you.
I know it’s true.

Hey there Apollo
You shoot arrows quite a distance
You’ve got a bow that’s made of silver
That you shoot and rarely miss with
And you feel
You need to teach men how to heal,
We use this still.

Oh, you’re the god for me.

Hey there Apollo
I know when the times were hard
The people came to you at Delphi
All pulling their little carts
And there they stood
Asking the oracle what could…
Your word was good.

Hey there Apollo
You’ve got nothing false to say
Zeus’s decree says from your throne of truth
No lie can come our way
It’s truth for all
We look upon you full of awe.
You have it all.

Oh, you’re the god for me.

The son of Leto and of Zeus,
Born on the isle of Delos
You have been called “the most Greek of the gods.”
The god of Truth and the god of Light
The dolphin and the crow he likes
The laurel tree was most sacred to him.
Apollo I can promise you
That by the time this song is through
The class will never ever be the same
And you’re to blame.

Hey there Apollo
“the Sminthian” a name of mystery
One more year and we’ll be done with school
But they’ll teach you in English like they do,
So the kids will all know about you
Teachers will teach what they want to
Hey there Apollo here’s to you
This song’s for you.

Oh, you’re the god for me.
